793nm EEL pumped thulium-doped (Tm) fiber laser to generate a 1.9μm laser, then pumped holmium doped (Ho) fiber laser to obtain a 3-5μm laser through nonlinear effect, with eye safety characteristics.


With the continuous development of optical fiber technology, as well as the emergence and commercialization of 793nm high-power pump laser, the industry's demand for optical fiber lasers and amplifiers in the field of eye safe wavelength is growing rapidly. It is difficult to make lasers with eye safe wavelength using traditional technology. And thulium-doped (Tm) fiber lasers are playing an increasingly important role in this emerging market with their unique advantages.

The newly developed 793nm EEL single-tube chip has the following parameters: it can achieve 10W continuous laser output at 190um strip width, electro-optical efficiency ~60%, limit power >20W, life > 50,000 hours. It has realized the domestic replacement, met the national demand, and is now being shipped in bulk, achieving good economic benefits.
